He could, yes! The only real lines (ie, the only parts that weren't them just making noises to make noises) were those spoken by the first group of actors, the ones with the "lanterns".

They seemed to be mimicking the things they've heard from people exploring, random disjointed bits of conversation like "which way should we go" or "how should we cross". It didn't really make a lot of sense.
