EVENT INFO: LIGHT UP THE NIGHT

EVENT INFO: LIGHT UP THE NIGHT
the basics
Hey, so remember that big ol' bonfire in the middle of town? Where all that fire is just sitting there being super bright in one spot but not doing heck-all for the rest of the town?
Rastus does. And so does Robin! Which is why you'll all be hearing from her on November 5. In honor of the earthly celebration of Bonfire Night, Robin will be asking the citizens of Beacon to spread the wealth a bit and to place torches from the bonfire around town to permanently bring a little more light to Beacon. The bonfire is meant as a resource, after all. Use it!
Oh, and to kick off the event, shortly after Robin's network post, fireworks will begin to launch from the lighthouse! They're odd-looking, though, given that they glow but don't cast light. They still look pretty! The fireworks will continue for a couple of hours, so there's plenty of time to sit down on the beach and watch the show. Robin seems to have gotten her hands on a lot of fireworks.
the details
From November 5-7, Rastus will be readily handing out torches to characters wishing to light up the town! These torches will be available ICly in Bonfire Square and OOCly under an event header on the item requests page. Here's a few things to keep in mind for this event, as well:
- Torches must be logged on the item request page in order to count as game canon. Unreported torch placement is not a thing you can do! Keeping track of the state of the bonfire and its torches is a critical game mechanic, and all torch activity has to happen on the item requests page so that we can stay organized. That goes for the game as a whole, too; not just this event! Report your stuff!
- Characters attempting to "steal" torches for use outside of the event should report this to the item requests page itself, and not under the event header. We'd prefer to keep the event header as complication-free as possible, so if you're doing anything that isn't "I take this torch and put it over there", please use the regular item requests system.
- There is no limit to how many torches a character can take. We're not introducing a limit in case of group efforts like attempting to light up a particular path or large area of town that would require more than one or two torches to do the job. The bonfire is managed by Rastus, but it's always going to be a player-run resource, and it's yours to do what you want with it! That said, community is, of course, very important—please be mindful of this! No one needs to take it upon themselves to light up the whole town.
- Please check the item requests spreadsheet to see which areas of town are currently lit by torches! You can place more than one torch in an area, but it's not always going to be the best use of the resource. Be sure to check! Torches around town are also noted on the setting page, though the spreadsheet is gonna be quicker and more concise for planning.
Additionally, players are welcome to use this post for OOC event plotting! In fact, please do, as not everyone in the game has access to each other's plurks! If you'd like, you can use the small form below to kickstart your plotting plans:
And a quick note unrelated to the event: Explorations are going to remain closed for a couple more days as we set up for the upcoming Enter Mr. Sandman event! We'll post an announcement to the OOC comm once they open up again. Apologies for the delay, and thank you for your patience!
the tl;dr
- November 5: Robin NPC post; fireworks kick off the start of the event!
- November 7: ...It's over!
