the basics

So the spirits decided to throw you a party; a feast, in fact. Cool! But then everyone who ate it suddenly collapsed, and now it's just you and a bunch of other confused (and probably still hungry) people with no idea what's happening. Are the feasters dead, or just unconscious? And what was in that food? Unfortunately, there's no time to stop and figure it out.

Almost immediately after the mass-fainting, a sharp rustling begins to echo from all around. Spirits, an army of them, creep purposefully out of the trees. And they aren't the friendly ones who made you all this dinner, either; instead it's those infamous green-eyed spirits, but more than just the one that plagued the last big feast in Beacon— (maybe you guys just shouldn't have parties? just saying)— this time there's more of them. A lot more.

Their exact intentions are unclear, but one thing's for sure: they do not come in peace. Over the next two weeks, these spirits will attack the town and everyone in it, using an arsenal of potent psychic abilities and the spirits' particularly unsettling flavor of physical violence. So grab that comatose body next to you and book it to the nearest safe space, or grab a weapon and get to fighting. It's time to defend the town!

the details

Starting on November 16th, the green-eyed spirits will launch an all-out assault on the citizens of Beacon. Their tactics will include not only their trademark induced hallucinations and general mind games, but physical violence as well. They seem to have recruited— or otherwise coerced— some of the forest's more dangerous inhabitants to their cause, and as a whole they will stop at nothing to accomplish their goal. Whatever that might be. Are they trying to kill you all? Just trying to scare you and going too far? Or is there something else sinister going on? Whatever the case may be, here are a few things you should know about the event itself:

• The attacking spirits will not be frightened away or otherwise diverted from their onslaught of their own free will. As a result, the attack will last the entire duration of the event. Get ready for the long haul, everybody!


• Characters may form groups to fight together (and, in practice, thread together against the spirits). These groups can consist of no more than 4 members, as any higher number would make threads unwieldy.


• Outside of the threads against spirits, characters are welcome to thread with those not in their chosen groups at their leisure.


• Characters can also go solo, naturally.


• Please report any formed groups in the appropriate place below. Your character won't have to spend every waking moment with these folks, but they will be fighting alongside them, so choose wisely!


• Mod responses (playing the attacking spirits) will come readily to threads that request it or that are obviously geared toward fighting the spirits, but beware: the attacking spirits may appear suddenly in any thread on the event log.


• Characters may alter the setting by building structures to better defend the town. Report any defenses constructed in the appropriate place below.


• Additional things to report include any property destruction, permanent injuries, or deaths.


• The reporting threads on this post will be used throughout the event! Anything not reported here will NOT count as game canon.

Who did it? Riku
What'd they do? Built barricades, barred doors, movement of torches.
Where'd it happen? Armory, inside the entrance. He bars the door when inside and set up barricades around the area leading to the door (inside the building) to slow intruders if they get through the door.

The barricades are basically polearms and spears and longer swords lashed to any sturdy frames he could assemble or find at the time. RIP anyone who blindly rushes inside. He set up similar barricades at the entrance to the second lower level, which is where he's keeping the dreamers he's collected.

Any torches around the Armory are moved inside the building.

tentatively sliding vanitas in between 19 - 21, somewhere in there. he'd most likely be circling these areas of beacon and will be probably of most use here with his mini army

L M A O, good lord, they'd be the strangest but best match-up since M.K. knows exactly nothing about modern day teens. Everyone in ItB is just a grump who doesn't know any good jokes, they had to add Nick Frost to the cast just to lighten them up.

Yeah, I think a lot is playing by ear - for now I'm thinking about tagging in to toplevels on the Event post and then make my own for the rest of it?

I should have it up by tonight (erh, in the next few hours) and we'll see how it goes.

Knuckling down - Quentin doesn't have a bike, so the trek from the cabin to town is going to take a while and be very dangerous? There's always that? Or, anywhere really.

That sounds hilarious, to be honest. Masaomi will be so put out every time he has to explain his terrible jokes, and I am so ready for that. Just. An entire tag-team fight where the "witty banter" is Masaomi complaining about how his bad ass one liners are being wasted and M.K. deadpan glaring at him over a mutilated spirit corpse.

I have no concrete plans or anything. Just that Masaomi won't be holing up anywhere unless he absolutely has to. Out and about looking for sleepers and supplies and all that good stuff. They could meet up while Masaomi's hands are full with too much stuff for him to properly fight or he could mistake M.K. for one of the nappers or anything you'd like!

Re: PROPERTY DAMAGE AND BUILDING

Who did it? Bucky, Crowley, Xayah, probably also various other people at the Invincible
What'd they do? Boarding up windows at the Invincible, blocking upstairs windows with furniture and more boards, creating barricades in the stairwells and halls of the upstairs floors, and on internal doorways on the main floor, to create prepared areas to fall back to.
Where'd it happen? The Invincible, within the first couple of days of the event.
