He tries to gently test how much of his grace/lantern is drained with smaller uses of power, and regularly patrols along and/or watches over Beacon, often accompanied by Buffy. Jo is, so far, the only person he's told that if she prays, he can hear her and come to her as long as he's familiar with the location she's in.
