INTEREST CHECK

Hello, everyone! It is Kitty, your resident blind liar & baby goth vampire... I come with you with a proposal, and I hope you will hear me out!

I joined this game in July and I have loved every minute. There's so much of this environment that fascinates and intrigues me, and the mods did an impeccable job in crafting an experience and an idea that resonated so much with all of us. As this game closes, I know there's a lot of residual interest for me in the stories I was telling and the fight against World Eaters our characters did not get to finish. I don't feel like I'm the only one. So I am here to try and get a pulse on who would be inclined for a continuation of sorts, and to what extent we'd like to build our next step.

The first thing I'd like to know is: would you be interested in continuing to play with similar themes — specifically living in a dead world, rampant spirits, and exploration, and putting together some sort of fight against the World Eaters — while stepping back from the mod created elements of this game (leaving Beacon, and the NPCS)? While I do have ideas on how to accomplish this, I am happy to take suggestion and furthermore, at this point this is more of a preliminary gauge of interest for continuing this story on a new path, likely as a GPSL or perhaps in an entirely new form, depending on what our needs end up looking like.

I have asked Mipps and the other mods if they would be comfortable with this concept and I have been given approval to do so. So my next step is seeing who is interested, and exactly what we want to do with our next night together. If you could let me know if you'd be interested in this, if you'd be willing to help me organize it, there are toplevels below to help me organize thoughts. I'll also have a place for thoughts and suggestions and any questions you might have.

Even if you are not interested, thank you for being a part of this delightful game and I am so grateful to have met and written with all of you!

You bet! I had actually also written up a thing to be one of the helper mods when Mipps was asking about that so I will totally extend that offer here. I'm not great with coding but I do love worldbuilding and plot-making and improv, and would also be delighted to help put together images or art or whatever photoshop stuff could be needed.

Also totally down for mundane stuff like maintaining the torch list/item requests honestly, whatever you need I will do it.

The format of the Explores is what sealed my interest! I usually avoid plot-heavy games because I'm a very slow tagger, can't always finish threads, etc. Having Explores done OOCly with players discussing and making one big post, then having results returned in one mod post (and onward but importantly not having to wait for Everyone to reply), is the best way I've seen this handled. Please please keep that, it's such a good idea for keeping things going apace.

Also just personally everyone being dead or functionally so is important to me - Pudding gets an entire new outlook if her "life" in game isn't predicated on going home, keeping up appearances, any of that.

Things I'm most interested in: continuing explorations of the town and general plot progression. Would also love to continue horror events/elements to keep things spicy.

As for world eater stopping, I'd bet a lot of us have ideas. The main angles I can see would be continuing to work out their language, since we know that's a thing that exists and that characters were interested, which could lead to negotiating with them (if they're intelligent) or also could lead to programming/commanding them as we know the spirits follow commands and perhaps the world eaters would as well. Commanding them to starve themselves? Tall ask.

I also really am invested in characters trying to manage their own organization which seems like it was pretty popular at the moment. The Night Market has its pros for sure, but also its cons - and the Wild Hunt like, hm. Death to everything didn't seem popular. But a third faction of Beaconites led by Beaconites is really inspiring to me. These characters have worked so hard to make this place their own and I would really love to see them come together and take control of their own fate with their own selected leadership or plans or whatever form that takes, rather than following an NPC leader.

The portal is a great tool, maybe that can be fixed or understood better so as to use it to send characters to other worlds (waayyy postgame so you all stay here and help first), or maybe seal the world eaters in some sort of non-dimensional void as another solution.

I also (I'll stop, I swear) would love to see the world of the game expanded beyond the town of Beacon. Beacon has a lot of cool little locations but I could see characters needing to go up into the mountains for resources found only there, or of course finally getting to go out on the lake if they figure out how to do that safely.

Ok. That's enough for now. Giving myself the hook.

To keep my "what elements?" brief: Exploration and atmosphere. I think the atmosphere of ITN is fantastic. The existential horror mixed with exploration and plenty of humorous whimsy really makes the setting feel fresh. It doesn't have the horror game issue of potentially wearing players down with unrelenting suffering.

I feel like a good jumping off point would be to use the flood we were already going to get to wash away mechanics and NPCs and give us a jumping off point. I mentioned this in the Questions section too, mostly to ask if it was a possibility.
