Lockpicking, keeping an eye out, quick on his feet and being overall sneaky sneak. As a caster though he can offer protection, healing and debilitating enemies with his magic. Who knows maybe the spirits secret weakness is water and he can help melt them. He's not much of a close up combatant and if he has to fight it'd have to be at range...with a crossbow. Even if he isn't in the Winter's group he will offer the team going in protections and wards to get past the spirits to make the operation more of a success.
