I'm Ireth and I bring you Quentin Coldwater, from the book trilogy / TV show The Magicians. The Magicians, in short, is a show where magic happens but it never really does anything meaningful and it usually just fucks everything up a lot. Quentin is the lead protagonist and for a long time, he thought he was the hero of the story. He wasn't.
Quentin has clinical depression to the point of being in the hospital several times, he's bad at socializing and he is, at heart, at huge nerd. He's been fixated on a fictional books series for kids called Fillory and Further (think same storyline as Narnia, only with a clock instead of a wardrobe) for years, and on the show, they show him coming to terms with growing meaning that not only do you outgrow childish things, growing up means being disillusioned and heartbroken. Over the course of the show, we see Quentin lose - a lot. He's still a nerd, hugely, and loves to read. He's the sort of person, who knows his favorite books by heart, knows all the fan theories and ran the messageboard about it. He's the sort of person who hides at the back of the party with his book and his one cup of something alcoholic and sweet.
He's awkward as all hell and really, this is Quentin:
Short run down-
- likes books - introvert - passive-aggressive - has a wooden arm, but it looks real. Can't feel anything - loves magic, even when it fucks them all over again and again - really, really good at muggle magic (card tricks, coin tricks) - tends to look like a kicked puppy - HUGE nerd, come be a nerd with him about the whole lore about this place! Quentin is going to be all over that. - died and his body disintegrated in a shower of sparks in a Mirror World, he gave his life to save his friends and the world- - is completely sure this is just his crappy afterlife, because why would the afterlife be any different than his regular one.
I'm in central Europe, which means I'm probably out of sync with most of you? So PM-ing this journal is the best way to get a hold of me.
