the basics

So the spirits decided to throw you a party; a feast, in fact. Cool! But then everyone who ate it suddenly collapsed, and now it's just you and a bunch of other confused (and probably still hungry) people with no idea what's happening. Are the feasters dead, or just unconscious? And what was in that food? Unfortunately, there's no time to stop and figure it out.

Almost immediately after the mass-fainting, a sharp rustling begins to echo from all around. Spirits, an army of them, creep purposefully out of the trees. And they aren't the friendly ones who made you all this dinner, either; instead it's those infamous green-eyed spirits, but more than just the one that plagued the last big feast in Beacon— (maybe you guys just shouldn't have parties? just saying)— this time there's more of them. A lot more.

Their exact intentions are unclear, but one thing's for sure: they do not come in peace. Over the next two weeks, these spirits will attack the town and everyone in it, using an arsenal of potent psychic abilities and the spirits' particularly unsettling flavor of physical violence. So grab that comatose body next to you and book it to the nearest safe space, or grab a weapon and get to fighting. It's time to defend the town!

the details

Starting on November 16th, the green-eyed spirits will launch an all-out assault on the citizens of Beacon. Their tactics will include not only their trademark induced hallucinations and general mind games, but physical violence as well. They seem to have recruited— or otherwise coerced— some of the forest's more dangerous inhabitants to their cause, and as a whole they will stop at nothing to accomplish their goal. Whatever that might be. Are they trying to kill you all? Just trying to scare you and going too far? Or is there something else sinister going on? Whatever the case may be, here are a few things you should know about the event itself:

• The attacking spirits will not be frightened away or otherwise diverted from their onslaught of their own free will. As a result, the attack will last the entire duration of the event. Get ready for the long haul, everybody!


• Characters may form groups to fight together (and, in practice, thread together against the spirits). These groups can consist of no more than 4 members, as any higher number would make threads unwieldy.


• Outside of the threads against spirits, characters are welcome to thread with those not in their chosen groups at their leisure.


• Characters can also go solo, naturally.


• Please report any formed groups in the appropriate place below. Your character won't have to spend every waking moment with these folks, but they will be fighting alongside them, so choose wisely!


• Mod responses (playing the attacking spirits) will come readily to threads that request it or that are obviously geared toward fighting the spirits, but beware: the attacking spirits may appear suddenly in any thread on the event log.


• Characters may alter the setting by building structures to better defend the town. Report any defenses constructed in the appropriate place below.


• Additional things to report include any property destruction, permanent injuries, or deaths.


• The reporting threads on this post will be used throughout the event! Anything not reported here will NOT count as game canon.

Ironically, that's how she fought together with Rakan :D He charges in and gets targets in the air with his magic and she snipes them down
At one point they can definitively both shoot when push comes to shove :)

She was always defensive about spirits ("it's their nature") but getting her hurt, AGAIN, by them, oh boy, she'll stop tolerating them and trying to get in good graces with them (sans the Librarian and Postmaster because they are always around)

yeah i was thinking something along the lines of searching the other buildings for stragglers or anyone who's been injured. javert's not going to want to be holed up in the invincible for too long so they can probably go on multiple runs together, tbh.

Bucky checks up on Bruce regularly like a stalker and he's gonna come haring out to the museum to check on him during this, too, and I hear Jason is the one protecting his sleeping not-dad? Bucky has intel that they have like... factions. Some like Beacon Bits, some do not. These green-eyed ones do not, and ALSO do not like other spirits... so blaming all spirits for the actions of this one group is counter-productive >.>

plans: No plans atm. Nyx is a Glaive/soldier from his world so defender role suits him just fine. He'll probably wander off on his own to be The Big Damn Hero and make sure there's as few casualties as possible. lol

Nyx has the ability to warp thanks to Noctis and so he's going to be warping around to keep his distance from the spirits but also come in close to hit them before warping back. He's also capable of warping another with him but can only go the distance of his dagger when thrown. So he's a jumpy guy appearing here and there quickly.

He'll absolutely jump in front of you to take a hit or warp you out of there if he's fast enough/it's possible to do so.

So! Bucky is going to be Watching Things Closely while he kills them (presuming of course these spirits are killable?). Are there any discernible patterns in the spirits' behavior? Do they come in waves or one at a time, do they work together as units or more as lone fighters who may or may not happen to be part of a group? Do they lay ambushes and traps and stalk their prey, or are attacks only of opportunity? Do they have specific targets they prefer over others (lone people, people in groups, people asleep, people injured, people who react more or less strongly to hallucinations, etc) or a specific direction they seem to be coming from?

Also, what are their physical capabilities in general? Stronger or weaker, and faster or slower, than the average human? Do they use actual weapons or just like... claws/talons/teeth/fists?

Are all instances of spirit attacks mod-driven only or would some be NPC'd by characters?

FINALLY Bucky will be attempting to Morse at them if he gets the chance between attacks. Just so you are aware, even if it does nothing, he's gonna fuckin try :B

plans: Quentin is going to be in Grand Portal #5 with a sleeping Eliot when all this starts. He’s also going to try search the nearest cabins, maybe venturing out a little to see if anyone needs help / sleepers stuck in cabins without guardians. He has a bow and arrows, a torch and his magic. Depending on how maybe sleepers he manages to round up, that would mean if he stays put or if it’s just Eliot, try to get to bonfire square while also carrying a huge person around.

Open for help, cooperation and as the days drag on, food. Supplies. Reinforcements. Company.

notes: I’d like for Quentin not to just get stuck in the cabins on his own? Small groups or help getting to either the armoury or the invincible would be lovely. Quentin knows a shitton of battlemagic and he’s pretty good with a bow and arrow.
