the basics

So the spirits decided to throw you a party; a feast, in fact. Cool! But then everyone who ate it suddenly collapsed, and now it's just you and a bunch of other confused (and probably still hungry) people with no idea what's happening. Are the feasters dead, or just unconscious? And what was in that food? Unfortunately, there's no time to stop and figure it out.

Almost immediately after the mass-fainting, a sharp rustling begins to echo from all around. Spirits, an army of them, creep purposefully out of the trees. And they aren't the friendly ones who made you all this dinner, either; instead it's those infamous green-eyed spirits, but more than just the one that plagued the last big feast in Beacon— (maybe you guys just shouldn't have parties? just saying)— this time there's more of them. A lot more.

Their exact intentions are unclear, but one thing's for sure: they do not come in peace. Over the next two weeks, these spirits will attack the town and everyone in it, using an arsenal of potent psychic abilities and the spirits' particularly unsettling flavor of physical violence. So grab that comatose body next to you and book it to the nearest safe space, or grab a weapon and get to fighting. It's time to defend the town!

the details

Starting on November 16th, the green-eyed spirits will launch an all-out assault on the citizens of Beacon. Their tactics will include not only their trademark induced hallucinations and general mind games, but physical violence as well. They seem to have recruited— or otherwise coerced— some of the forest's more dangerous inhabitants to their cause, and as a whole they will stop at nothing to accomplish their goal. Whatever that might be. Are they trying to kill you all? Just trying to scare you and going too far? Or is there something else sinister going on? Whatever the case may be, here are a few things you should know about the event itself:

• The attacking spirits will not be frightened away or otherwise diverted from their onslaught of their own free will. As a result, the attack will last the entire duration of the event. Get ready for the long haul, everybody!


• Characters may form groups to fight together (and, in practice, thread together against the spirits). These groups can consist of no more than 4 members, as any higher number would make threads unwieldy.


• Outside of the threads against spirits, characters are welcome to thread with those not in their chosen groups at their leisure.


• Characters can also go solo, naturally.


• Please report any formed groups in the appropriate place below. Your character won't have to spend every waking moment with these folks, but they will be fighting alongside them, so choose wisely!


• Mod responses (playing the attacking spirits) will come readily to threads that request it or that are obviously geared toward fighting the spirits, but beware: the attacking spirits may appear suddenly in any thread on the event log.


• Characters may alter the setting by building structures to better defend the town. Report any defenses constructed in the appropriate place below.


• Additional things to report include any property destruction, permanent injuries, or deaths.


• The reporting threads on this post will be used throughout the event! Anything not reported here will NOT count as game canon.

character(s): Zihuan Cao Pi
plans: I would literally enjoy teaming up with every defender at some alternate point. Cao Pi would not stay with one small group for the duration, so I'm presently torn between putting up a toplevel for allcomers or making concrete plans to drift in and out of other people's toplevels so he can get some sweet fighting action. He will also be using the network to frantically organize defenses and has TONS of ideas for strategy both in terms of manpower and structural defense, so brain picking can be go. Come at me to make small groups for fightytimes that will last a day or two, or until half the group gets slaughtered, whatever, you know, it's all good.
notes: he does have some minor ice powers that only manifest while fighting so that's fun?

Maybe you can like -- "Schedule" which groups he's with and when...like a rough timeline.

I've love to put these two strategist to work, since they did discuss some things way back during the town meeting Cao Pi hosted and Jason's first thought would definitely be about coordinating some kind of unified effort.

Hell yes Jason let's talk tactics. He's going to be so angry that they got sidetracked by hallucinations and thefts and didn't get to implement anything in time.

I feel like for craziness like this it helps to have a rough timeline |D that's what I plan on kinda doing with Jason here shortly.

To make it easier on the both of us, if you want Jason and Cao Pi to be part of the initial incident group that's fine by me, that way they can do some fighting to escape and then hopefully have a chance to coordinate?

Works for me, right at the first sign of trouble. He'd definitely be directing traffic and demanding people grab the unconscious, so even if he's swinging his swords around he'll have the forethought to yell ideas at Jason over his shoulder.

Jason would probably be doing something similar since this is what he was more or less trained for at camp. So they'd be a natural pair for sure!

Well, I know I'd love to build some CR with him, so maybe have some time at the Invincible? Crowley has zero strategy or friendmaking skills, but he will have access to food and beds!

The Invincible has been his advocated fallback point all along so Crowley's plan is right on the money, he'll actually laud it as the best idea. And then be a sass at him.

ooooh yes, that would be good. By now Cao Pi has certainly made a point to actually make good on that suggestion that they spar. He's a little flashy but very good with those double blades.

eta: would you rather a special thread in the monster section for the two of them? to specifically get NPC attention vs just doing whatever we do in a fight thread.
