THE MEDICAL CENTER
the basics
With the Wild Heart event wrapped up, we're pleased to announce the medical center is now available for further exploration! The medical center is another core location, and will be unlocked in bits and pieces as characters explore the area, similar to how we did the downtown location reveal!
This means that all of the locations in the medical center will need to be investigated before they'll open to the game at large! Right now, only the main campus and various patient wards in the hospital are available to the public. Check out the details below/on the setting page to see which locations are still in need of exploration.
We also want to point out that this is a great opportunity for characters who might not normally venture out on an exploration to get involved in unlocking the town! Traveling to the medical center is now both safe and easy as the paths have been uncovered, so characters won't need to brave Beacon's wilderness to investigate the medical center. It's a perfect exploration destination for, say, characters with fragile nerd bones or zero survival skills.
That said, we do ask that you all attempt to coordinate exploration plans as opposed to diving straight in! There's a lot to uncover, but there's a lot of you, as well. Working together both OOCly and ICly and making space for players that haven't had an opportunity for much plot stuff yet is stuff we'd love to see!
In order to kickstart that teamwork, feel free to use this post for exploration planning! Here's a form that you may use to get started:
Please remember that the usual exploration rules apply! In addition, each player may only explore the medical center once for the time being in order to give everyone a chance to get involved. If exploration requests die down and there are still areas to be uncovered, we may lift that rule. We'll make an announcement in the OOC comm should that happen.
And one more thing to note: Characters are always welcome to re-explore areas that have already been unlocked on the map. If you ever spot a detail on the setting page that makes you go "hm!" and you want to check it out more thoroughly, feel free to hop on down to the explorations page!

the details
Beacon General Hospital is a boxy, sprawling building that makes up for its squat stature with its footprint. The facility is stretched over a large campus made up of interconnected buildings as well as outdoor recreation areas. A walking and fitness trail winds through the campus, and the central courtyard has plenty of serene picnic areas for those looking for a break from the dreary hospital halls.
For now, no actual medical supplies can be found on the hospital grounds. Various hospital equipment such as emesis basins, IV stands, wheelchairs, gurneys, and so forth can be found throughout the patient wards, but anything used for patient care isn't available.
The hospital itself is split into a number of wings and wards, all long abandoned, but still in decent condition:
Patient Wards
The bulk of the hospital is made up of various inpatient wards: oncology, intensive care, geriatric, pediatric, maternity, etc. All of the wards have been stripped of their medical supplies and some of the furniture has been scattered haphazardly, but otherwise, it's empty hospital halls for miles. Strangely, the maternity and pediatric wards seem to have been closed down long before the rest of the hospital was abandoned, as those areas have had their furniture and equipment meticulously packed away.
Surgical Wing
The surgical wing is comprised of 12 operating rooms and two patient wards for pre- and post-op care. When the green-eyed spirits kidnapped residents to experiment on them, the captives were locked in the surgical wing. This location will need to be explored before it's available to the public.
Pharmacy
The pharmacy is a small area near the emergency room with a window that opens into the hallway. This location will need to be explored before it's available to the public.
Labs and Records
The various labs and hospital record archives can be found in the basement. This location will need to be explored before it's available to the public.
Emergency Room
The ER is on the first floor right at the front of the hospital. This location will need to be explored before it's available to the public.
Additional Areas
There are a handful of other areas within the hospital that are currently blocked off and unable to be entered, including the cafeteria and radiology. There's also a small assisted living wing attached to the hospital. These locations do not need to be explored! They'll all be made available once the other medical center locations have been thoroughly investigated.
an update on downtown beacon
After those nasty forest spirits were discovered in the courthouse, a brave group of explorers managed to fight them off once and for all. This means the courthouse is now unlocked to the public, though there's not much inside besides the honorable Skunk Judge. They bestowed THE KEY TO THE CITY!!! upon the group, so, that's in play now.
The lower level of the shopping center has been rid of crocs, and the tech shop is now open!
...Er, sort of. There's still the issue of the waist-deep water flooding the entire floor. That will need to be dealt with before the outdoor rec store and the tech shop are open for business.
The floor in the shopping center is the last piece of the downtown area that needs to be unlocked! Once that last puzzle is solved, all those little downtown storefronts will open up.

character(s): peter parker, aka webslinger lad aka spider-man
plans: LABS, MATE. he's a scientist. frankly, how much peter would immediately and obviously contribute to an explore would 1. depend on company and 2. depend on immediate danger. he's still somewhat reluctant to out-and-out admit he's fucking spider-man, which subsequently means he'd be reluctant to show off his ~~spider abilities with unknown individuals, but please don't let that put u off. it just means interactions would be a little different but in any and all situations: peter would be willing to use his spider abilities to attack/defend against any threats, and he has that handy-dandy spider-sense to warn of impending danger. he's got webs, he's got stickiness and he's got that tingle.
he's also got an obnoxious as fuck sense of humour, so you know.

Sora | Kingdom Hearts | Surgical Wing
character(s): Sora
plans: Anyone who is willing and okay with going back to the Surgical Wing can take Sora with them! He's makes a great magical guard-dog, but he's not really a sciencey or medical type, so any scientists or doctors would be greatly appreciated! Also searching for leaders, critical thinkers, or generally clever and nosy people. Another person with magic powers or melee combat expertise who can round out Sora's strong dude jack-of-all-trades kit would be fantastic too.
If we leave the plan up to Sora, he's just going to walk in with his torch and make friends with anything still there. Anyone with a better plan or at least a safer approach to this plan would also be appreciated.
notes: Been thinking about a brief hiatus for Sora for the first couple weeks of April, but I would keep the exploration updated daily. I'm willing to keep people in the loop via plurk/discord/pm/comment chain/etc.

Keep me updated! I'll keep this entry open for more bites, but I'll definitely hand the reins over to you since I think that was your plan, if I understand it correctly! It might be for the best, especially if my hiatus takes me farther away from Sora's activity than I plan for it to ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

and i see i see! i'll probably start up a planning plurk for it pretty soon to collect everyone's info, but i'm down with going forward later in april so rosi has a chance to rest up. i'll aim for around the 6-9th, but with lots of flexibility for sooner/later!

plans: carm is a glutton for punishment and has an axe to grind with green eyes so she wants to scope out the hospital! since a couple of the other spots are already hit, maybe the emergency room? and hey, maybe just maybe there'd be some useful stuff there! she's mostly interested in whatever the green eyeds might have left behind but other involved parties could fish around for other stuff ...
