sdlfkj this event came at the best time after I was jUST TALKING ABOUT THIS ON PLURK........
Congratulations! If you stumble across M.K.'s grave, you'll find another simple, semi-unmarked memorial that looks like it was done in haste on the spot because that's how you roll during war when soldiers are falling all the time. The custom in Azra seems to be to burn the dead by dipping the fallen's weapons in oil and lighting the pyre with them, so his will be marked by two burning (Beacon's brand of shadowy fire only!) scimitars alongside a small wooden marker engraved with this. Whaddya know, it matches the symbol on the armor he's been walking around in.
You can watch his LOCAL VILLAIN HAS A COME TO JESUS MOMENT death here. Comparatively, it's a one and done killing blow before he (you) really knows what's happening, but there's plenty of emotional blowback to go around. Mainly in him having one of those Final Moments™ epiphanies and realizing he's become a person who doesn't deserve to live. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
(For the curious, you can watch the whole battle here: part I, the start and end of part II, and part III.)
THINGS OF POTENTIAL INTEREST
• The memory is of fighting as him, so characters will get to physically feel what it's like in a souped up dark chi mode! He's also just fucking Done and willing to do whatever it takes to win, expect a big whiff of that on an emotional scale.
• He has a long, antagonistic history with the older woman (she imprisoned him, tortured him, gave him his scars) so there's personal satisfaction in getting to kill her...
• ... WHICH MAKES WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENS THAT MUCH WORSE as her daughter jumps in the way. Who also happens to be his childhood sweetheart. Also the one person left in the world he's tried not to hurt, to the extent he spared her in the fight earlier. It's his point of realizing he's become a monster after a long time spent going down a dark path. (Made even worse by the fact they used to be hella soft and her already having tried to talk him out of this shit once before bYE.)
• He's not so much afraid as resigned and a bit relieved when it's over. Basically there's just a metric ton of heavy feelings to unpack, you've been warned.
M.K. won't be trying to hide or turn people away from his grave, so have at it!
