EVENT SIGNUP: DO YOU REALIZE?

EVENT SIGNUP: DO YOU REALIZE?
the basics
As he announced in his recent network post, Winters is planning an expedition out to the lighthouse with the intent of reconnecting the Lighthouse Keeper to the network. The expedition is due to head out during a big ol' party that the forest spirits are planning for the town. Both the expedition and the party are going to require some help from Beacon's new residents, so if you'd like to get involved with that plot directly, this is where to let us know!
Signups are broken into two main categories: The expedition and the party. ICly, Winters will take note of signups and sort groups based on how he thinks the skillsets will be best spread. OOCly, it's random, baby! Mostly. We'll determine the groups via RNG while taking player preferences into account. How many players will be able to get involved depends on how signups go, but our goal is to involve up to half of our current playerbase.
You may sign up your character(s) for both the expedition and the party, though each player will be limited to one character with a role in the event. For example, if you play Characters A and B, you may sign them both up to help with the expedition and the party. It's your name that will go into the RNG drawing, and then if you're chosen to help with the expedition, we'll remove your name from the drawing for the party. TL;DR: Everyone has the same chance to be chosen in the RNG!
Characters do not need to sign up for either group in order to attend the party! Anyone not involved with either of these groups is welcome to enjoy the event as they wish; these signups are just for the expedition and the planning stages of the party.
Signups will close on August 10 at 11:59 PM EST, and we'll post/get in contact with the finalized groups shortly thereafter.
the expedition
The expedition will be further broken into roughly 2-3 teams depending on how signups go. At minimum, there will be one lookout group organized by Leu playing Will and one lighthouse expedition crew led by Mippins playing Winters. With enough hands on deck, we'll be able to form more specific groups, such as support/defense squads to help protect the main lighthouse crew and a more organized system of lookouts stationed at key point throughout town.
The group accompanying Winters to the lighthouse itself will be limited to 3-4 players. Being selected for any role in this event will reduce your chances of being selected for similar opportunities in the future (we want to spread the wealth!), and that's especially true for the Winters crew, given their importance to this part of the plot. You're still welcome to sign up for future plot roles, though we will prioritize players that haven't yet had a chance to be involved.
Every character chosen for a role in the expedition will be at risk for serious injury and potentially death, especially the Winters crew! As Vanitas can attest, venturing past the barbed wire fence near the lighthouse is quite dangerous! Please refrain from signing up for an expedition role if you're not okay with your character dying.
Finally, given the nature of the expedition, only characters with skills relevant to each role will be chosen to participate. However, this doesn't necessarily mean you can't sign up if your character would be an unconventional choice! In the signup form, there's a space to describe your character's skills as relevant to the role(s) you'd like. If you think your character would be an asset to the expedition group despite their lack of survival or combat experience, let us know! We'll do our best to accommodate as wide a range of characters as possible, and if you miss out this time, there will be opportunities in the future to do cool plot stuff.

the party
The expedition is vitally important, yes, but they're not going to get very far without a good distraction, not to mention you'll want to keep on good terms with the forest spirits should things go poorly.
Players chosen for the party planning committee will work with mods Danielle and Kit to set up the party alongside our resident forest spirits. The Postmaster General, the Librarian, and the Vendor are here to help! Party planner responsibilities include all the fun party trimming such as refreshments, entertainment, decorations, and so forth. It may not sound as plot-important as the expedition, but the expedition's success depends heavily on the state of the party! Think of it as a diplomatic affair. A Shruted up flop of a get-together won't show the forest spirits you care much about being a part of their community, while a Gatsby-style all-out bash may just distract the spirits from caring all that much about lighthouse infiltration. They are simple creatures, after all. Wanna food!

PARTY SIGNUP
Clarke
character: Clarke Griffin
role preferences:
most preferred: entertainment (mingling, socializing)
least preferred: cooking. decorations she could do, because art, but i'm p sure she'd burn the place down attempting to cook.
relevant skills: diplomacy!! she's been a leader for various groups on post-apocalyptic earth, and she's graced with tact and a knack for negotiations. she also has medical expertise, but i'm not sure how that would contribute. also she does dance! if properly motivated (and inebriated).
no subject
character: Daylight vis Lornlit.
role preferences:
Most preferred roles: Decorations. Hosting.
Least preferred: Cooking. Entertainment.
relevant skills: Daylight has a proven eye/skill for the arts, so he can help out with making the atmosphere a fun and festive place for the spirits. He's also very sociable and friendly, already trying to make strides in making friends with the spirits, so he's more than happy with help socialise with them.
no subject
character: Aislin Abendroth.
role preferences:
Most preferred: Entertainment in terms of providing music.
Least preferred: Hosting, in terms of anything realised to socialising.
relevant skills: Aislin is trained in playing the violin, so she can provide mood music for the party from heavy and dark music to outright folksy dance tunes. She's happy to take requests if they have music sheets or request something she knows.
no subject
character: melisandre
role preferences:
most preferred: hosting, cooking
least preferred: decorations
relevant skills: diplomacy and spirit relations! she generally has a good track record with the local spiritworld (so far), and her canon role frequently features soothing an ill-tempered king (so she's come to be quite good at... smoothing over tensions). cooking-wise, she's done a fair bit of it already in beacon, knows feeding the spirits is important, and used to work in the kitchens of the temple a long time ago, so it's not her first rodeo.
character: yaeris
role preferences:
most preferred: decorations, entertainment
least preferred: hosting, cooking/food&drink
relevant skills: she knows magical and non-magical ways of making things from plant-life, so decorations are right up her alley – plus she's sociable and willing to teach. other than that, she's got a lovely singing voice and knows a whole bunch of stories of her people, which she'd be totally willing to share at the party as well.

character: daniel riordan
role preferences:
most preferred: cooking, de..corating?
least preferred: entertainment, hosting.
relevant skills: he's a good cook, he has a general calm aura to him, and he can dance. also, every item you've ever seen on a pinterest board involving ivy and/or fake plants? he could make that for you. double also, he loves a good forest spirit.
no subject
character: Ignis
role preferences: Most preferred: Cooking/refreshments, hosting/socializing, decorating, general planning and organization
Least Preferred: Entertaining
relevant skills: Anyone who knows Ignis also knows his hobby is cooking and baking. As old habits die hard, he has a pen and notepad with himself at all times, writing down ideas for meals or desserts. He's been on baking spree ever since he arrived (bagels and pretzels everywhere)- it calms his nerves. He's pretty chill when he cooks, very friendly even, quite approachable (can chat about cooking for hours), so even if something explodes in the kitchen, he'll handle it without panicking.
Trained to be royal advisor, Ignis is well versed in "you can say that but can't say THAT" type of things during parties. Of course, the parties he attended in the past were of royal character, but he doubts it changes much. His temper is mild and Ignis knows how to keep himself in check or how to deescalate the situation if things become too heated.
He's an organized and tidy person so, at the end of the night, the clean up shouldn't be that bad.

character: Elden
role preferences:Preferred: Hosting and decorating.
Least preferred: Cooking , entertainment
relevant skills: Diplomacyyyyy. Despite how he can come off to people in a casual scenario, Elden can talk and can be pretty convincing. He's worked with others before to convince large crowds or give big inspiring speeches but he's also been able to get info out of people or broker deals on his own. In general he is fairly friendly and is capable of keeping that up even in a tense or awkward scenario. Otherwise, he's a pretty good artist so he can help set the place up. (briefly list any skills your character has that may help with any of your requested roles.)

character: sora
role preferences: the heavy-lifting of setup, refreshments, welcome wagon
relevant skills: he's got 2 arms and doesn't mind getting bossed around by people who have a Vision so he can help with set up, and then there was that one time he learned how to cook from a disney rat even though he continues to mostly eat canned food like the gremlin he is, but he's also an empathetic and social young man who wouldn't really treat the spirits any differently than anyone else. he's not big on flattery because that involves thinking before you speak, but sora is good natured and kind. he just wants to help.
Re: PARTY SIGNUP
character: Jo Harvelle
role preferences: Jo would offer to work on refreshments or decorating.
relevant skills: Jo grew up working at The Roadhouse and other bars as needed for cash. She's good at being cordial and inviting and has no trouble serving as a distraction when she needs to.
