PREMISE OF THE EVENT
The friendly spirits of Beacon will be celebrating Valentine’s Day! Most of the spirits have been watching and observing the characters from afar for a while now and, whatever the reasons are, have either started to admire them or even outgrow affectionate for one character or another.

With the help of Daylight, who will be escorting a majority of them through the event to act as either interpreter or moral support, the excited spirits will be giving gifts and parcels they worked very hard on to the character who caught their eyes!





Hey everyone! I'm Melly - player of Daylight vis Lornlit ([personal profile] sunborne), resident tall teenage robot - and I'll be running this player plot event! The spirits are feeling affectionate towards characters in their own, strange way and will like to show it off by giving them gifts they worked very hard on!

This is a completely opt-in player event for those who want to have some silly spirit shenanigans. If you're interested, please check out the following dates* below:

February 5 - 7 (OOC)
Announcement of the event.
Sign up for the event + singing up for what type of spirit you’d like to get.

NOTE: Sign up for the event is now closed! We've also hit our cap of five players for customised spirits.

February 8 - 12 (IC)
Spirit Gathering Intel! This is where characters will begin to notice the spirits’ antics and shenanigans in the leadup towards Valentine’s Day through the next several days.

February 14 (IC) / February 14 - 15 (OOC)
The event itself! Please note that while it’s set on Valentine’s Day, it'll be running into the first half of the weekend so everyone gets a chance to interact with their spirit and thread out their reactions + interactions against each other.

I’ll have a post up in the log community and it will consist of the following:

— A description of the attempts by the spirits to make it Valentine’s Day-is as possible, from throwing glitter around to make the areas more pretty or hanging paper hearts and pretty rocks on trees or scribbling hearts on the residences of the characters! Basically doing the well-meaning but gremlin-menacing things the spirits are known to do during the holiday events.

— Several prompts for characters to use to facilitate interaction with one another! Have your characters mingle as they marvel/despair over the spirits being spirits.

— For my sanity’s sake, a top-level where characters can finally meet their spirit admirer and interact with the spirit and, now and then, Daylight. Judging by how the interaction is going, RNG events can spice up the back-and-forth until the present is finally given. Some are simple trinkets. Some will be pretty chunks of dirt or bits of rock. Some may prove useful or detrimental to characters.**

** - If you guys opt for this, of course, and ask for a customised spirit. Please refer to the fill-out form below to get a better idea of what this would entail for your character, should you choose to agree to this angle.)

How do I join? What do I need to fill?
Simply select one of the two forms found in the top-levels I've set up and, after you've filled it, enter a comment to this post with the answered form! That will be considered your participation notice in the event.

Will the vendor spirits be involved in the event? Like the Postmaster General or the Concierge or [insert favourite spirit vendor here]?
No, they will not be involved! Spirits who will be giving characters' gifts and who will be involved in this event are all the 'normal' spirits of Beacon. They will come in two flavours: Generic spirits and customised spirits.

What's the difference between a generic spirit and a customised spirit?
The difference between the spirit types are these:

A generic spirit: They won’t be described much in terms of appearance and all of them will have the same personality: Excited and a little overzealous for the event, very eager to give the object of their affections their gifts. They're more likely to get RNG'd events happening in their events, just to make sure the threads/interactions do differentiate from one another.

A customised spirit: They’ll get a nickname, a set personality, and a unique look to them! They'll usually complement the character in some way, in order to explain why the spirit is so fascinated with the character in question. NOTE: This type of spirit will have a cap of five characters getting them, since this will be a lot of work on my end and I want to be sure I'm not biting off more than I can chew.

I’m a new player and my character hasn’t done anything notable yet or been around that long. Can I still sign up for the event/sign up for a customized spirit?
Yes! Absolutely! Even if your character is new to Beacon and has only been around for a few days, it doesn’t mean a spirit wouldn't be intrigued by your character! Maybe your character is carrying a unique and fascinating item on them that a spirit covets. Maybe your character exudes a mysterious aura that caught the flighty spirit's ways. Maybe your character is just that cute. Feel free to hop in!

Can I ignore the event if it’s not my thing?
Sure! The spirits antics’ are pretty small scale and will, unlike most of their activities, only last for an IC day.

the details

Sitting west of the village, just over the river, lies the greenhouse. It's a large building covered in thick glass windows, built to nurse a host of different plants. Pleasantly warm on the inside, it's clearly built to be used year-round. There are tools both common and rare are neatly stacked against one wall, and there's plenty of rows for everyone to plant to their heart's desire. Seeds of common produce are available, as well as minor chemicals meant to encourage growth and discourage weeds.

Residents are more than welcome to stake out a plot or two! OOCly, players are encouraged to handwave who has what row: this is a community resource, so feel free to utilize it.

A team of explorers, with the help of forest spirits acting as guides, has recently discovered the sculpture park!

the details

Located across from the scrapyard on the opposite side of the river, a peculiar pathway surrounds a clearing of land. The space is akin to that of a park, but in the absence of a child's playground or sports fields is a smattering of sculptures that range from charming to bizarre. The rust on these immobile metal sentinels marks them as the work of an artist of the distant past. But still, they stand, unique and eye-catching and plentiful.

Venture far enough in, and the sculptures, as it turns out, aren't the only pieces of art that can be found. In the center of the park, a defunct gallery contains well-preserved pictures of the past...and come together to tell a grim sort of story. Aside from these photographs and miscellaneous forms of art, the single-roomed building contains no notable pieces of furniture or means to live by. There aren't any spirits that have chosen to roost within this barren relic.
