MOD ANNOUNCEMENT: DOWNTOWN UNLOCKS
Howdy, players! Some new locations have been made available in Downtown Beacon!
So, hooray, you've at least partially explored all of the buildings downtown! Nice work!
Here's a quick list of the stuff that still needs checking out/solving!
Please keep in mind that downtown explorations are still limited to one per player, but we'll be lifting that at the end of the month! If you haven't had a chance to explore downtown yet and you'd like to, be sure to get a plan together before March 1!
That's all for now, players, and please let us know if you have any questions! If you'd like to plan a downtown exploration, you're welcome to us this post to do so! Here's a handy form to get you started:
- The Landmark's elevator is now available for use! Thanks, Superman! There were 25 torches just chillin' in the elevator shaft, but those have been safely returned to the bonfire. Enjoy your +25 health boost, Beacon bits.
- The Delft has been unlocked! You can find the full description on the setting page, but some highlights: Riku, Vanitas, Bruce, Peter, and Jason discovered a set of projectors connected to those weird electrical boxes y'all keep finding around town, and the projectors aren't currently operational. They also found a whole library of movies to watch!
- The courthouse is... still pretty locked! Not for lack of trying, but perhaps some fighty-types will want to take a stab at dealing with those pesky spirits. The courthouse will need to be explored further before it's fully unlocked, but the setting page has been updated with Rosalind and Javert's findings.
- Duster and Tadashi unlocked the Fallout Shelter! You can find the full description on the setting page, but some highlights: constant forest spirit rave time, and a DJ playing songs off of the Songbird app who will totally sell you drugs. Specifically, weed, cigarettes, cocaine, MDMA, and LSD if you're willing to pay... in bling! This forest spirit wants shiny stuff to wear, so hook them up and they'll hook you up right back! (As a note, players are welcome to handwave these trades or play them out on their own!)
So, hooray, you've at least partially explored all of the buildings downtown! Nice work!
Here's a quick list of the stuff that still needs checking out/solving!
- The lower level of the shopping center (with the outdoor rec shop and tech shop) is flooded! The tech shop is locked up, and the outdoor rec store is open, buuuuut the entrance is blocked by a bunch of crocodilian forest spirits that don't seem very friendly.
- The leggy forest spirits in the courthouse will need to be dealt with in some fashion before the courthouse can open up!
- Sometimes, the smaller details on the setting page can be worth exploring further! If characters ever miss stuff in a location discovery, we sneak it onto the setting page just in case anyone notices... 👀 We'll never let you miss big important stuff, so these things are more like easter eggs and little hints. If a detail on the setting page ever catches your eye, it might just be worth checking out in an exploration!.

character(s): Bucky/Soldat
plans: Those spirits in the courthouse hurt Soldat's handler :| They want to make 'em pay. This plan is for AFTER MARCH 1, cuz they want the thermal imaging scope for their rifle which is coming in on the ferry and also cuz I've already done an explore here... so if anyone else wants to fight leggy people-eating spirit monsters before then, go for it. But. Just getting it out there that they've got Plans.
notes: May possibly recruit a fighter type or two to help out, but might not. It depends on where Soldat's brain is come March 1.

If it's more a distant/sniper thing then he could still possibly help as a flier and rain lightning from above....

character(s): clark kent / superman
plans: definitely leaning more towards supes, though i'm not sure whether to throw him at the shopping centre or towards the courthouse.
for the SC, i'm imagining he can evaporate the flooding water with his heat vision, and though he can fight the croc spirits he's hoping to solve this through more peaceful means. he'll only fight after peaceful methods have been exhausted! kal's invincibility is nerfed here so that spirits can harm him, which he's aware of after being wounded by one in his first days in beacon, but it won't stop him from Trying. he also has kryptonian-level/alien-level advanced knowledge of technology, so he can fiddle about in the tech store if that's something that's unlocked during the exploration.
for the courthouse, again, kal can fiiiiight, or use his superspeed to try and get the leggy spirits somewhere else that isn't the courthouse???? clark could also try helping in this sense, but would probably offer himself up as distraction to get the spirits to focus on him first
and potentially rip him apartbefore drawing them as far away from the courthouse as he can for him to be able to use his abilities without other people seeing. LOL. if any powered types would rather do the fighting while clark does the snooping, that's totally fine, too.in general he's not afraid of dying, and clark's aware that being close to the bonfire charges his powers up to 100% for a temporary amount of time, so while he's taking risks he's also hoping to survive long enough to make it there so his healing factor can kick in. of course, he's unaware his healing factor doesn't work for fatal wounds, so... there is that. HAHA.
notes: superman isn't exactly big on leading groups unless he really has to, so he wouldn't be making an initiative to bring people along and will potentially do this shit solo. unless someone else pipes up with interest and he can just go "is there any way i can help?" lmaoooo. so there is that.
alternatively we can have supes get caught during recon of any of these locations so that the Obviousness that he intends to go in alone ends up having your character/s either invite him or invite themselves to the Mission. i'm pretty easy about it!
finally, he'll be doing a charge at the bonfire before going in for everything, so the first 4 hours or so of the mission will have him able to use all his abilities. after that, they gradually get weaker, until eight hours have passed and he's left with just the standard kryptonian ability set. you can see a list of all the crap he can do here.

... by which i mean, peter will be there to back supes up and also speedily faff his way about with the spirits. he would be great as a distraction for the crocs (or the leggy spirits) once kal evaporates the water, or he can just get in and snoop while kal deals with them himself. he's easy and isn't afraid of dying (again) so he'll be down to take risks and potentially get his ass kicked.
