MOD ANNOUNCEMENT: THE IC INTRO LOG / HOUSING

Hi there players! Since we're waiting on a couple of acceptances notices to go out yet, we've decided to post the intro log tomorrow (July 2) at noon EST! All of the acceptance stuff will be finished by then.

When the intro log goes up, you'll also be able to claim housing! Please keep in mind that in the current available housing, there's only 20 one-bedroom "apartments", meanwhile there's 51 characters. Suffice to say, the housing situation will be a little nuts in the first couple weeks of the game, and tomorrow will lightly result in a mad dash to grab a room.

We know this will probably be a bit stressful, but please try not to worry too much! You'll likely discover more housing options soon, and if nothing else, here's a little list of alternative options to claiming a room in the Invincible:

• You can set up camp somewhere in town/in the forest nearby (though we wouldn't suggest venturing too far into the trees for housing purposes!).
  
• You can list your character as nomadic! Sleeping is optional, mostly, and while you still have to register this on the housing page, wandering around is a valid decision.
  
• You can claim a little nook in other available locations, such as the general store or town hall.

It's also worth noting that the rooms in the Invincible may have extra furniture, as so many of you took advantage of in the TDM! If you want to assume your character pilfers/is given a mattress, some cushions, a rug/curtains for building a tent, etc., you're welcome to do so. The best way to survive in this game is to work together, after all.

Housing claims will be registered on a first come, first serve basis. Also, we may shift requested room numbers around a little bit if folks try to claim the same room at the same time.

Question; Aside from the NPCS, forest spirits and the characters themselves, there is no other npc citizens in this game, right?

As of this point in the game, you are mostly correct! The player characters and our three NPCs (Winters, Will, and Rastus) are the only known people in town at the moment. The forest spirits are certainly entities in some way, though they're not "alive" in the same way that characters are. They don't have lanterns or tablets, for example.

That said, players will encounter some additional NPCs in the future, and whether or not they're currently in the world is... a mystery! 😃

She absolutely can do this! However, if she tries to set up in the main sanctuary, whenever she leaves, she'll find her belongings neatly relocated to one of the additional rooms within the church.

Also! Some players contacted us about setting up a clinic in one of the church rooms. There's more than one of these rooms, so Melisandre's makeshift camp and the clinic can coexist, but we wanted to make you aware that she'll likely have company.

Absolutely! Go nuts with the boathouse if you like.

What sort of activities can someone expect if they're camping in the woods? Would there be animals creeping up in the night or forest spirits spying on them?

For now, the forest is eerily still and silent. There are no animals, bugs, or forest spirits around; the only sounds the characters will hear while camping would be the wind in the trees and any sounds from the nearby town.

However! We (and the NPCs) would caution against trying to set up a permanent camp too far from town. Within sight of the discovered map would be safe enough, but if you go further than that, let us know on the explorations page!

Question. Being that Wade and Gene may metaphorically live there but will not literally be living in the clinic, does one of us still need to reserve the vestry on the housing post, or is the protocol different for communal spaces run by PCs?

Not on the housing post, no! For any sort of PC-run business or organization, you'll want to drop us a line on the player projects page. We'll list the clinic and its info on that page, and then we'll update the setting page as well to let everyone know what's in that space.

Is the ocean theoretically visible (i.e. when there's enough moonlight) from the windows on the back wall of the Invincible?

Nope! The lake is roughly a mile north of Bonfire Square, and given the density of the trees, there's not much to see out the windows. Sorry, Wade. There's no room with a view. :(

I defo had a similar idea! Elden's gonna be trying to help organize more of a space for peeps to bed down outside. Especially if there's a bunch of extra furniture in the Inn they can use that to build shelter.

Sora (and I think possibly Riku and Kairi?) will be setting up hammocks outside of the Invincible with a vibe that's mostly comfortable, not luxurious.
